Spot pepper continued its fall on Wednesday on quality woes. Trade sources told Business Line that the material arriving contains high moisture and is of low bulk density.On the terminal market only three tonnesfrom the high ranges were traded at ₹490 a kg. Outside, 30 tonnes of Wayanad pepper and 30 tonnes from Karnataka were traded at Rs ₹480 and ₹460 a kg respectively. Interstate dealers from Tamil Nadu were the buyers.
Spot prices dropped further by ₹200 a quintal to close at ₹48,200 (ungarbled) and ₹50,200 (garbled) a quintal.
Indian export prices declined to $8,050 a tonne c&f for Europe and $8,300 a tonne c&f for the US.
