The Modi-led Government will issue the fifth tranche of sovereign gold bonds on September 23.
The bonds will be sold through banks, Stock Holding Corporation of India, designated post offices and recognised stock exchanges -- NSE and BSE, an official release said.
The Centre has during 2015-16 and 2016-17 (so far) issued gold bonds in four tranches.
The Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley, had in his 2015-16 budget speech stressed the need for developing a financial asset, Sovereign Gold Bond, as an alternative to purchasing the yellow metal.
