Import duty talks lift edible oils

Fear of import duty hike in edible oils lifted its prices on the BCE despite limited volume amid weak foreign markets. Local refineries increased their rates for imported oils. On the BCE, palmolein and cotton oil rose by ₹3 per 10 kg each.

Sunflower and soya refined oil increased by ₹5 each. Liberty traded palmolein ex Shapur ₹650, super palmolein ₹670. At Rajkot, groundnut oil telia tin was steady at ₹1,380 and loose (10 kg) at ₹870. BCE spot rates (₹/10 kg): groundnut oil 910 (910), soya ref. 720 (715), sunflower exp. ref. 660 (655), sunflower ref. 715 (710), rapeseed ref. 790 (790), rapeseed exp. ref. 760 (760), cottonseed ref. 703 (700) and palmolein 630 (627).
