Jeera futures slid as traders resorted to profit booking after sharp rise in prices on Thursday. Spot prices ruled almost steady on export demand. On the NCDEX, jeera March contracts lost ₹285 or 1.83 per cent at ₹15,280 a quintal with an open interest of 17,460 lots.
Analysts said besides profit-booking by speculators at prevailing higher levels, a fall in demand in the spot market against ample stocks influenced jeera prices on the futures market.
At Unjha mandi of Gujarat about 10,000-12,000 bags arrived and price stood at ₹2,400-2,750 a maund of 20 kg. In Rajkot APMC, jeera lost ₹10-15 to ₹2,300-2,675 and arrival stood at 1,500 bags.
