Mixed trend in pepper

The spot pepper moved up on good demand while the futures declined on anticipation of increased availability. On the terminal market 68 tonnes arrived and that were traded at ₹585-595-600-₹610 a kg depending upon the area of production and quality, trade sources told Business Line .

Upsurge was seen in supply from Karnataka where the harvesting has reached its peak. Sellers there were offering 500 GL pepper at ₹575 delivered upcountry markets on cash and carry, they said.

Spot prices moved up by ₹100 a quintal to close at ₹58,700 (ungarbled) and ₹61,700 (garbled) a quintal.

April and May contracts on the IPSTA declined by ₹1,000 a quintal each to close at ₹62,000 and ₹61,000 a quintal. June moved up by ₹1,000 to close at ₹59,000 a quintal.

Indian export prices were at $9,825 a tonne c&f for Europe and $10,075 a tonne c&f for US
