The new pepper has started trickling in from Adimali region of Idukki district, according to trade sources on Tuesday. The high range sellers were asking for ₹395 a kg for it while the buyers were at ₹390 a kg. On the terminal market 28 tonnes of imported pepper were traded at ₹370 a kg. Availability of such stuff at lowest price has pushed the spot prices further down by ₹300 a quintal to close at ₹38,100 (ungarbled) and ₹40,100 (garbled) a quintal. Indian export prices were at $6,475 a tonne c&f for Europe and $6,625 the US.
