New turmeric arrives for sale

Nearly 250 bags of new turmeric arrived for sale in the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association sales yard and all of them were sold at a higher price. One or two traders quoted ₹8,300 a quintal for the new turmeric (number eight finger variety) and the lowest price quoted for the new turmeric was ₹7,600. For the old stocks, traders purchased very few bags at a slightly higher price. At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association, finger variety went for ₹5,580-8,448 a quintal; root turmeric ₹5,055-7,414. Of the arrived 840 bags, 370 were sold.
