For the second consecutive day, no turmeric sale was conducted on Wednesday. “Only 300 bags arrived in all the markets. No farmer is willing to sell their produce,” said RKV Ravishankar, a trader. Some traders said the turmeric crop in Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh are in good condition and hence good number of bags will arrive for sale. Prices decreased in the two sale centres and only 35 per cent of the arrived stocks were sold. At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association, the finger variety was sold at ₹7,089-8,461 a quintal; the root variety at ₹6,369-7,209. Of the arrival of 102 bags, 48 were sold.
