More-than 50,000 bags of different paddy varieties arrived at the Karnal Grain Market Terminal in Haryana on Monday.
Tara Chand Sharma, Proprietor of Tara Chand and Sons, said that with the start of kharif marketing season, arrivals have picked up and it may touch the 1 lakh-bag-a-day mark within a couple of days.
Government agencies are expected to begin procurement but on Monday, no purchase was made by the agencies as the moisture level in the arrivals was higher at 19 per cent. Rice millers bought stocks to build inventories.
In the physicals market, with not much trading taking place, prices of almost all rice varieties remained unchanged. The situation is likely to at current levels this week, said market experts.
Pusa-1121 (steam) quoted at Rs 5,800 a quintal while Pusa-1121 (sela) sold at Rs 4,725. Pure basmati (raw) quoted at Rs 5,500 while pure basmati (sela) sold at Rs 4,600. Duplicate basmati was traded at Rs 4,700. For the brokens of Pusa-1121, Tibar sold at Rs 3,450; Dubar at Rs 2,800 and Mongra at Rs 2,400. Sharbati (steam) quoted at Rs 3,800 while Sharbati (sela) quoted at Rs 3,700. PR-11 (sela) sold for Rs 2,600 while PR-11 (raw) quoted at Rs 2,500. Permal (raw) sold at Rs 2,200 while Permal (sela) sold for Rs 2,250.
Paddy Arrivals
Around 50,000 bags of different paddy varieties arrived at the Karnal grain market terminal.
About 25,000 bags of PR variety were sold for Rs 1,225-1,280, 4,000 bags of Sharbati at Rs 1,750-1,850 while around 1,000 bags of Sugandha variety at Rs 1,700-1,800.
Around 15,000 bags of PR14 sold for Rs 1,300-1,391 while 5,000 bags PR 13 at Rs 1,100-1,150.
