Availability of Vietnam pepper imported via Sri Lanka at ₹400 a kg in upcountry markets such as Mumbai is reported to have dried up the demand at the terminal market here. This in turn has pulled the prices down further, market sources told Business Line .
There were sellers at ₹480 a kg but no buyers. Were there neither any arrivals nor any off take on Thursday at the terminal market, they said.
Spot prices fell by ₹200 a quintal to close at ₹47,700 (ungarbled) and ₹49,700 (garbled) a quintal.
Indian export prices were at $8,000 a tonne c&f for Europe and $8,250 a tonne c&f for the US.
