The pepper markets gained on Tuesday as sellers have slowed down at a time when more buyers were seen looking for high bulk density, high-range pepper, market sources told BusinessLine.
Industry buyers and interstate dealers from Tamil Nadu were looking for high-range material, they said. On the terminal market, 33 tonnes from various regions arrived and were traded at ₹565-600 a kg. Spot prices improved by ₹100 a quintal to close at ₹58,300 (ungarbled) and ₹61,300 (garbled) a quintal.
The March contract on the IPSTA moved up by ₹1,000 a quintal to close at ₹60,000 a quintal.
Indian export prices were at $9,375 a tonne c&f for Europe and $9,625 a tonne c&f for US.
