Spot pepper prices moved up on Thursday on sellers’ withdrawal following the Centre’s imposition of minimum import price of ₹500 per kg yesterday.
At this rate the invoice should have to be at around $7,700 a tonne, trade sources told Business Line .
There were neither any arrivals nor any offtake at the terminal market, they said.
Spot prices gained by ₹200 a quintal to ₹38,100 (ungarbled) and ₹40,100 (garbled). Export prices were at $6,475 a tonne c&f for Europe and $6,725 for the US.
