The pepper growers were not ready to sell at buyers’ demanding price and hence there were neither any arrivals nor any off take at the terminal market on Thursday, trade sources told Business Line .
They said high range sellers were asking ₹505 a kg while those in Pulpally and Bathery (Wayanad) were demanding ₹500 a kg.
Citing high moisture content the buyers are asking for a discounted price, they said.
Spot prices were steady at ₹48,400 (ungarbled) and ₹50,400 (garbled) a quintal.
Indian export prices were at $8,075 a tonne c&f for Europe and $8,325 a tonne c&f for the US.
