Spot pepper prices declined today on discounted sales of Vietnam and Brazil pepper . Strengthening of the rupee also supported the price fall as imports would become further cheaper, market sources said. They said seven tonnes of imported pepper were traded at ₹370 a kg and Tamil Nadu dealers have bought it. Spot prices fell by ₹300 a quintal to ₹38,400 (ungarbled) and ₹40,400 (garbled). Export prices were at $6,525 a tonne c&f for Europe and $6,775 for the US.
