Pepper prices ruled steady as demand matched supply on Tuesday. Leading exporters having commitments for January and early February shipments covered briskly. At the terminal market, 75 tonnes of new pepper arrived and sold for ₹575-610 a kg depending upon the quality and area of production.
High Range pepper was traded at ₹610. Reports of easier trend in Vietnam also influenced the market trend here, he said. On the terminal market, spot prices stayed unchanged at ₹58,500 (ungarbled) and ₹61,500 (ungarbled) on matching demand and supply. On the IPSTA platform, February and March ruled steady while April fell by ₹1,000 a quintal to ₹55,136. Export prices also remained steady at $10,400 a tonne prompt shipment and $9,400 for February shipment.
