Spot pepper ruled steady on Friday on currency factor. Strong rupee can accelerate imports, market sources told Business Line . On the terminal market, 36 tonnes were traded. 16 tonnes of imported stuff were traded at ₹420 a kg, while 10 tonnes of pepper from Pulpally and Bathery in Wayanad were traded at₹435 a kg. 10 tonnes of High Range material were traded at ₹445-450 a kg, they said. Spot prices remained unchanged at ₹43,200 (ungarbled) and ₹45,200 (garbled) a quintal. Indian export prices were at $7,225 a tonne c&f for Europe and $7,475 for the US.
