Arrival of turmeric for sale on Tuesday was low for the second day in a row. “Only 3,500 bags arrived for sale. Traders, after verifying the quality, procured only 55 per cent of the stock., said RKV Ravishankar, a trader. The price of the finger variety decreased ₹300 a quintal in the Regulated Market Committee and improved by ₹150 a quintal in the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association sales yard.At the Regulated Market Committee, finger turmeric sold at ₹7,179-8,699 a quintal and root variety at ₹7,143-8,116 a quintal. Of the arrival of 949 bags only 504 bags were sold. At the Erode Cooperative marketing Society, finger turmeric sold at ₹7,299-8,639 a quintal and the root variety sold at ₹7,299-8,129 a quintal. Out of 628 bags placed for sale, 588 bags were sold.
