Impasse over slapping of 5% GST on state marka (branded) and unregistered pulse seeds has promoted traders stay away from trading leading to decline in price of pulse seeds and pulses. On Tuesday, chana (Kanta) ruled at ₹5,750-5,800 a quintal, while chana (desi) quoted at ₹5,650. Compared to last week, chana is ruling ₹200 a quintal lower. According to Prakash Vora, given prevailing circumstances, chana (Kanta) prices in Indore mandis will likely to remain range-bound between ₹5,800- 6,200 a quintal. Chana dal ruled stable with chana dal (average) today being quoted at ₹6,800, chana dal (medium) at ₹7,300, while chana dal (bold) ruled at ₹7,600 a quintal.
Weak arrival and improved domestic demand on the other hand lifted dollar chana in Indore mandis to ₹12,500 a quintal. In container, dollar chana (42/44) count ruled at ₹13,600-700 a quintal, dollar chana (44/46 count) at ₹13,200, while dollar chana (58/60 count) quoted at ₹11,500 a quintal respectively.
