Tracking a weak global trend, silver prices moved down by Rs 168 to Rs 36,300 per kg at the futures trade today as speculators reduced their positions.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in far-month July moved down by Rs 168 or 0.46 per cent to Rs 36,300 per kg in a business turnover of three lots.
Also, the white metal for delivery in May declined by Rs 134 or 0.37 per cent to Rs 35,780 per kg in 616 lots.
Analysts said speculators trimmed positions in tune with a weak global trend as the dollar extended gains on speculation the US Federal Reserve may raise interest rates this year as the economy recovers.
Meanwhile, silver fell 0.13 per cent to $15.71 an ounce in Singapore.
