Extending its upward journey, silver prices rose further by Rs 310 to Rs 62,025 per kg at the futures trade today, taking positive cues from global markets.
In addition, a strong demand for the white metal in domestic markets supported the continued ascent of prices.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in September spurted Rs 335 or 0.54 per cent to Rs 62,025 per kg recording a business volume of 1,840 lots.
In a similar fashion, December contract rose Rs 311 or 0.49 per cent to Rs 63,438 per kg with a business volume of 231 lots.
Marketmen said the trading sentiment continued to remain bullish on the back of a firming trend overseas as mounting concerns about the debt crisis and slower economic growth spurred the demand for silver as a safe investment haven.
Meanwhile, silver prices surged by as much as 0.59 per cent to $40.88 an ounce in the overseas markets today.
