Tracking a firm trend overseas, silver prices were higher by 0.86 per cent to Rs 37,245 per kg at the futures trade today after speculators enlarged their positions.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in far-month May was up by Rs 319 or 0.86 per cent to Rs 37,245 per kg in a business turnover of three lots.

Similarly, the white metal for delivery in March traded higher by Rs 283 or 0.78 per cent to Rs 36,518 per kg in 672 lots.

Analysts attributed the rise in silver prices at the futures trade to a firm trend in the precious metals overseas.

Meanwhile, silver increased as much as 2 per cent to trade at $16.06 an ounce in Singapore.
