Taking positive cues from global markets, silver moved up by 0.54 per cent to Rs 56,622 per kg at the futures trading today.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in March rose Rs 302 or 0.54 per cent to Rs 56,622 per kg with a business turnover of 7,570 lots. Likewise, May contract traded higher by Rs 301 or 0.52 per cent to Rs 58,095 per kg with a trade volume of 539 lots.
Analysts said the rise in silver futures prices was mostly supported by a firming trend in the precious metals overseas after European leaders reached an agreement on a second Greek bailout, weakening the dollar and boosting the demand for precious metals as an alternative investment.
In the Asian region, silver prices edged up to $33.60 an ounce in Singapore in early trade today.
