Silver prices fell sharply by Rs 305 to Rs 37,161 per kg at the futures trade today amid a weak global trend and profit-booking by speculators.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in May tumbled by Rs 305 or 0.81 per cent to Rs 37,161 per kg in a business turnover of 1,104 lots.
Similarly, the white metal for delivery in July declined by Rs 290 or 0.71 per cent to Rs 37,640 per kg in 26 lots.
Market analysts said trimming of positions by speculators in tandem with a weak global trend mainly weighed on silver prices at the futures trade.
In Singapore, silver eased by 0.2 per cent to $16.69 an ounce.
