Silver prices rose Rs 163 to Rs 36,870 per kg at the futures trading today as participants built fresh positions amid a firm global trend.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in March 2015 gained Rs 163 or 0.39 per cent to Rs 36,870 per kg in a business turnover of 586 lots.
Likewise, the white metal for delivery in far-month May traded higher by Rs 133 or 0.36 per cent to Rs 37,519 per kg in three lots.
Market analysts said fresh positions built up by speculators, tracking a firm global trend, influenced precious metal prices at the futures trade.
Meanwhile, silver rose 1.15 per cent to $15.90 an ounce in Singapore.
