Silver prices rose Rs 74 to Rs 42,681 per kg at the futures trading today as speculators created fresh positions, tracking a firm trend in the precious metals overseas.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in May traded higher by Rs 74 or 0.17 per cent at Rs 42,681 per kg in a business turnover of 545 lots.
Likewise, the white metal for delivery in July traded higher by Rs 51 or 0.12 per cent to Rs 43,366 per kg in 109 lots.
Market analysts said fresh positions built-up by speculators largely in tandem with a firm trend in the precious metals overseas, as a worsening crisis in Ukraine stoked haven demand, influenced silver prices at the futures trade.
Meanwhile, the white metal was up one cent at $19.74 an ounce in Singapore.
