Silver futures prices rose 0.11 per cent to Rs 44,316 per kg today as speculators built fresh positions amid covering-up of short positions.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in September traded higher by Rs 47 or 0.11 per cent to Rs 44,316 per kg in a business turnover of 335 lots.
On similar lines, the white metal for delivery in far-month December traded higher by Rs 23 or 0.05 per cent higher at Rs 45,000 per kg in a turnover of 8 lots.
In the international market, silver traded 0.29 per cent lower at $20.60 an ounce in Singapore.
Market analysts said covering-up of short positions by speculators, helped silver futures to trade higher but a weak trend overseas, limited the rise.
