Taking positive cues from global markets, silver prices gained 0.47 per cent to Rs 38,669 per kg at the futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in May rose Rs 180 or 0.47 per cent to Rs 38,669 per kg in a business turnover of 17 lots.
Similarly, the white metal for delivery in March traded higher by Rs 134 or 0.35 per cent to Rs 38,225 per kg in 847 lots.
Analysts said creation of fresh positions by speculators on the back of better global trend mainly led to the rise in silver prices at the futures trade.
Meanwhile, the metal rose 0.26 per cent to $17.31 an ounce in Singapore.
