Silver futures prices today gained for the second straight session by adding Rs 354 to Rs 57,175 per kg on pick-up in demand at the spot market supported by the ongoing marriage season.
A firming trend in global markets further fuelled the uptrend in silver prices.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in March added Rs 354 or 0.62 per cent to Rs 57,175 per kg with a business turnover of 5,818 lots. Similarly, May contract moved up by Rs 324 or 0.56 per cent to Rs 58,534 per kg in 248 lots.
Market analysts said apart from a firming trend in global markets, pick-up in demand at the spot market for the marriage season mainly pushed up silver prices at the futures market.
Meanwhile, the white metal gained 0.6 per cent to $33.90 an ounce in Singapore.
