Tracking firming trend overseas, silver prices moved up by 0.31 per cent to Rs 55,738 per kg at the futures trading today.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in March rose Rs 173 or 0.31 per cent to Rs 55,738 per kg with a business turnover of 2,735 lots. Likewise, the metal for delivery in May traded higher by Rs 165 or 0.29 per cent to Rs 56,875 per kg with a trade volume of 130 lots.
Market analysts said the rise in silver futures prices was mostly supported by a firming trend in the precious metals overseas.
Globally, silver prices rose 0.47 per cent to $32.35 an ounce in New York last night.
