Slip continues in pepper

Spot pepper prices continued to slip on fear of increased availability. As the harvesting has gained momentum in Coorg region of Karnataka and Wayanad district of Kerala selling pressure was felt in the markets.

Consequently, the spot prices fell today, market sources told Business Line . On the terminal market 18 tonnes were traded at ₹685-605 a kg.Spot prices fell further by ₹200 a quintal to close at ₹58,200 (ungarbled) and ₹61,200 (garbled) a quaintal.

April, May and June contracts steady at ₹60,000, ₹59,000 and ₹59,000 a quintal respectively. Indian export prices were at $9,650 a tonne c&f for Europe and $9,900 a tonne c&f for US.
