Small cardamom prices continued to witness an easier trend as supply outstripped the demand at auctions in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. It is the peak harvesting time and hence the arrivals have risen which may continue till November, PC Punnoose, General Manager, CPMC told BusinessLine .
He said the exporters were active and they have bought an estimated 100 tonnes of cardamom last week. Last week, 10 auctions were held and the total arrivals stood at 532 tonnes against 663 tonnes the previous week.
The auction average for the week dropped to ₹966.52 a kg from ₹995.16. Total arrivals as on October 7 were at 5,367 tonnes and sales were at 5,228 tonnes. The individual auction average was at ₹1,051.03 a kg. Prices in ₹/kg : 8mm green bold 1,250-1,300; 7 mm: 960-1,050 ; 6-7 mm 850. Good bulk was being traded at ₹760.
