Small cardamom prices declined on heavy arrivals at auctions held in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. The prices, after having crossed ₹1,200 a kg a fortnight ago, has now fallen to below ₹1,000. At the auction held today in Idukki, the average price dropped to ₹969.36/kg from last week’s ₹1,020.71. Exporters have bought an estimated 100 tonnes last week. Last week, 10 auctions were held and the total arrivals stood at 663 tonnes as against 710 tonnes the previous week. Total arrivals as on September 30 were at 4,835 tonnes and sales were at 4,704 tonnes. The individual auction average of the season was at ₹1,048.48 a kg. Prices in ₹/kg: 8mm green bold ₹1,250; 7 mm: 950-1,050 ; 6-7 mm 850.
