A volume of 20.02 lakh kg has been catalogued for Sale No: 21 of Coonoor Tea Trade Association auction to be held on Thursday and Friday.
It is as much as 1.14 lakh kg more than last week’s offer.
Of this, 13.27 lakh kg belongs to leaf grades and 6.75 lakh kg, dust grades. As much as 18.56 lakh kg belongs to CTC variety and only 1.46 lakh kg, orthodox variety. The proportion of orthodox teas continues to be low in both leaf and dust grades. In the leaf counter, only 92,000 kg belongs to orthodox while 12.35 lakh kg, CTC. Among the dusts, only 54,000 kg belongs to orthodox while 6.21 lakh kg, CTC.
Among CTC teas from bought-leaf factories last week, Homedale Estate’s Super Red Dust, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped both the Dust auctions and the entire CTC market when Om Enterprises bought it for ` 195 a kg.
