Spot turmeric prices at Erode markets increased on quality arrivals. On Friday, only 3,300 bags arrived for sale and 60 per cent were sold. Because of the arrival of good quality turmeric – especially the Salem and Erode Hybrid varieties of finger turmeric – the prices increased by ₹100-400 a quintal. The root variety was up ₹200-300. At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association, the finger variety went for ₹6,699-9,809; the root variety ₹6,300-9,011. Of the arrival of 889 bags, 408 were sold.
