Spot turmeric prices increased at Erode markets as traders received some upcountry demand.
“The price of the yellow spice was up ₹200-300 a quintal. The arrival has touched 11,000 bags. More than 60 per cent stocks were sold. The arrival of turmeric in other centres like Warangal and Nizamabad also increased and the price increased there by ₹200,” said RKV Ravishankar, President, Erode Turmeric Merchants Association.
At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association sales yard, the finger variety old turmeric was sold at ₹5,696-8,709 a quintal; the root variety ₹5,456-7,891.
Salem Turmeric: The finger turmeric fetched ₹6,799-9,869 and the root variety ₹6,691-8,414.
At the Regulated Market Committee, the finger turmeric traded at ₹7,810-8,935; the root turmeric ₹7,039-7,985.
At the Erode Cooperative Marketing Society, the finger turmeric was sold at ₹7,799-8,759 and the root variety ₹7,369-7,991.
