Weak arrival and rise in prices of imported tur by importers' cartel in Mumbai, lifted tur (Maharashtra) prices in local mandis on Wednesday by Rs 100 a quintal to Rs 3900, while tur (Madhya Pradesh) rose to Rs 3450-Rs 3500 a quintal. For the past sometime, tur had been ruling low with its prices fluctuating between Rs 3700-Rs 3800 a quintal on weak demand. However, of late with decline in domestic carryover stock, delay in arrival of new tur from Madhdya Pradesh which is expected to hit local mandis in the second week of January and rise in imported tur prices by importers' cartel in Mumbai, lifted tur prices on Wednesday to Rs 3900 a quintal.
On the other hand, notwithstanding rise in spot tur, its dal ruled flat on slack demand with tur dal (full) in local mandis on Wednesday ruled at Rs 5800-Rs 5900 a quintal, tur dal (sawa no.) at Rs 5300-Rs 5400, while tur marka ruled at Rs 6700 a quintal respectively. Compared with its prices last week, tur marka and tur dal (sawa no.) are ruling stable, while tur dal (full) is up by Rs 100 a quintal.
Moong and urad ruled stable on subdued demand with moong (best quality) in local mandis on Wednesday being quoted at Rs 5000-Rs 5200 a quintal, while moong (medium) ruled at Rs 4500-Rs 4800. Moong dal also ruled flat on slack demand with moong dal (medium) being quoted at Rs 6400-Rs 6500, moong dal (best) Rs 6800-Rs 6900 a quintal, while moong mongar ruled at Rs 6800-Rs 6900. Similarly urad and its dal also ruled stable with urad (best quality) being quoted at Rs 3450-Rs 3500, while urad (medium) ruled at Rs 3000 a quintal. Urad dal also remained unchanged barring urad mongar which was quoted up at Rs 5600-Rs 5900 a quintal on improted buying support.
