The rupee on Thursday lost 10 paise against the dollar to close at 55.81 on high wholesale price inflation figures.
The local currency touched a low of 55.88 to the dollar after opening a tad lower at 55.75 from yesterday’s close of 55.70 per US dollar.
The rupee had consolidated in the past week after touching a record low of 56.52 on May 31.
Call rates and G-Secs
The call rates lowered at 7.95 per cent from Wednesday’s close of 8.05 per cent. The call money rates opened higher at 8.10 per cent, also being the day’s high.
The 10-year benchmark 8.79 per cent government bond maturing in 2021 ended lower at Rs 102.96 with the yield surging at 8.32 per cent.
