The rupee rose marginally by 6 paise to trade at a fresh three-month high of Rs 49.09 per dollar at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market in early trade today.
Dealers said continued foreign capital inflows in the Indian market and weakening of dollar against the euro in the global markets, mainly kept the rupee sentiment firm.
The domestic unit had surged by 12 paise to close at a fresh three-month high of Rs 49.15 against the dollar on bullish stocks amid sustained dollar selling by banks and corporates.
Meanwhile, the BSE benchmark Sensex rose 37.07 points or 0.21 per cent to 17,468.92 in early trade today.
