The rupee fell 32 paise to trade at Rs 52.82 per dollar today as the US currency firmed against euro and other rivals overseas.
According to forex dealers, a weak opening in the domestic equity market also impacted the rupee sentiment.
Dollar’s gains against euro and other currencies overseas on doubts about solving the euro zone debt crisis too weighed on the rupee, they added.
The domestic unit had gained 37 paise to close at more than one-week high of Rs 52.50/51 per US dollar yesterday following a sharp rebound in domestic stocks.
Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex opened the trading session at 15,546.66, down 138.55 points from its previous close. The NSE Nifty opened, down 56.2 points at 4,636.90.
