The rupee was trading strong by 13 paise at 62.84 on fresh dollar selling by exporters amid flat trading in the domestic equity market.
The rupee rose six paise at 62.91 against the US dollar in early trade at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market.
It further strengthened to 62.76 in the afternoon trade before being quoted at 62.84 at 4.10 pm local time.
The domestic unit hovered in the range of 62.76 and 62.98 in the afternoon deals.
Forex dealers said a weak dollar against some other currencies overseas capped the rise.

The rupee had lost 47 paise to 62.97 against the dollar on Friday on sustained dollar demand from importers amid weakness in local shares.
