The rupee was trading higher at 64.90 against the dollar in the noon session on bouts of dollar selling by exporters and banks. A weak dollar against other currencies overseas and a firm domestic equity market also bolstered the domestic currency.

The rupee opened strong by 2 paise at 64.94 at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market today. It hovered in a range of 64.94 and 64.85 before quoting at 64.89, up 7 paise at 12 noon local time.

Yesterday, the rupee had staged a mild recovery after a two-session fall and ended higher by 7 paise at 64.96 against the US currency.

Meanwhile, the benchmark BSE Sensex pared its initial gains and was trading marginally up by 15.46 points or 0.03 per cent at 33,234.27.
