The rupee was trading strong at 66.56 in the evening session on increased selling of the American currency by banks and exporters.
Besides, sustained foreign fund inflows, dollar’s weakness against other currencies overseas after last week’s softer-than-forecast US jobs data, and a firm domestic equity market boosted the rupee value against the dollar, forex dealers said.
The rupee rose 11 paise to 66.56 in early trade at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market today. It hovered in a range of 66.61 and 66.54 before quoting at 66.56, up 11 paise at 4.05 pm local time.
The rupee had ended marginally higher by 1 paisa at 66.67 in Friday’s trade.
Meanwhile, the benchmark BSE index closed 21.2 points or 0.08 per cent higher at 28,082.34.
