The rupee was trading weak by 11 paise at 61.94 against the dollar due to heavy dollar demand and on the back of dollar's strength against other currencies overseas.
After opening weak by 7 paise at Rs 61.90, the domestic unit slipped further to 61.99 on heavy dollar demand from importers and on the back of weak equity market in the afternoon session.
It hovered in the range of 61.80 and 61.99 before being quoted at 61.94 at 4.35 pm local time.
The rupee had slid 8 paise to end at 61.83 on Friday due to month-end dollar demand from importers and some banks.
