The rupee on Thursday closed higher, though by a marginal two paise, to end at 66.64 against the US dollar, despite caution among investors ahead of trade talks between China and the US.
The domestic unit has now gained 26 paise in the last four tradingsessions. It had ended steady on Wednesday.
The rupee opened modestly higher at 66.63 compared to Wednesday’s close of 66.66 at the inter-bank foreign exchange (forex) market on fresh bouts of dollar unwinding by banks and exporters. Following trading in a tight range of 66.52 and 66.65, the domestic unit finally settled at 66.64, showing a small gain of 2 paise, or 0.03 per cent.
