Gold futures on the Multi Commodity Exchange opened higher at Rs 30,350 per 10 grams against the previous close of Rs 30,318.
In Comex, the yellow metal was trading at $1,640 a troy ounce.
Gold prices on MCX touched a high of Rs 30,426 on the back of favourable price movement in the international markets.
However, prices will be impacted by the key economic data to be announced in the US during the second half of the day's trading.
