Gold prices declined 0.21 per cent to Rs 29,227 per ten grams at the futures trade today as speculators trimmed their positions driven by a weak global trend.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold for delivery in February declined by Rs 61 or 0.21 per cent to Rs 29,227 per ten grams in a business turnover of 1,556 lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in April traded lower by Rs 45 or 0.16 per cent to Rs 28,655 per ten grams in 93 lots.
Market analysts said speculators trimmed their positions due to weak global trend which led to decline in gold prices at the futures trade.
Meanwhile, gold lost 0.3 per cent to $1,251.34 an ounce in Singapore
