Gold futures prices declined 0.27 per cent to Rs 28,659 per 10 grams today, as speculators booked profits at existing higher levels amid a weakening trend in the Asian region.
At the Multi Commodity exchange, gold for delivery in December declined by Rs 78 or 0.27 per cent to Rs 28,659 per 10 grams with a business turnover of 1,253 lots. Similarly, February contract lost Rs 75 or 0.26 per cent to Rs 28,975 per 10 grams with a trade volume of 435 lots.
Market analysts said besides profit-booking by speculators at existing higher levels, reports of a weakening trend in the Asian region mainly led to the decline in gold futures prices.
Meanwhile, the yellow metal dropped 0.05 per cent to $1,708.88 an ounce in Singapore.
