Gold futures on the Multi Commodity Exchange opened higher at Rs 31,211 per 10 grams on Thursday against the previous close of Rs 31,199.
February contract made a high of Rs 31,242 and low of R 31,062. It was trading down by 0.29 per cent at Rs 31,110 at 1.07 pm.
In Comex, the yellow metal was down by $2.7 at $1,691 a troy ounce.
Gold prices may trade on the lower side taking cues from the international markets and the appreciation of rupee against dollar.
