Gold futures on the Multi Commodity Exchange opened higher at Rs 31,388 per 10 grams on Wednesday against the previous close of Rs 31,366.
February contract made a high of Rs 31,465 and low of Rs 31,356. It was trading marginally higher by 0.21 per cent at Rs 31,433 at 12.58 pm.
In Comex, the yellow metal for February delivery was up by $10 at $1,706 a troy ounce.
The appreciation of rupee against dollar in the futures market is limiting the gains in gold prices in India.
