Gold futures on the Multi Commodity Exchange opened lower at Rs 30,962 per 10 grams on Thursday against the previous close of Rs 30,979 as rupee appreciated against dollar.
At 1.14 pm, the October contract was trading down 0.09 per cent at Rs 30,952. In Comex, the yellow metal was up by $11 at $1,791 a troy ounce.
Gold futures on MCX may trade weak as rupee is expected to continue to appreciate against dollar.
